SEA LEVEL (TOPEX/POSEIDON)

Sea level rise is caused by the thermal expansion of sea water due to climate warming and widespread melting of land ice. The TOPEX/POSEIDON mission a joint satellite mission between NASA and the French space agency CNES, which operated between 1992 and 2005 to collect ocean surface and sea level data to support the mission of understanding ocean circulation.
