This dataset indicates the location of Architectural Conservation Areas (ACAs) in County Kildare. The data is used to inform planning policy and to guide appropriate development.
An ACA is a place, area, groups of structures or townscape of special architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic, cultural, scientific, social or technical interest, or which contribute to the appreciation of protected structures, and whose character it is an objective of a development plan to preserve. The Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, provides that all Development Plans must now include objectives for preserving the character of Architectural
Conservation Areas (ACAs).
Please see Chapter 12.7 of the Kildare County Development Plan 2017 - 2023 for more detail on the ACAs in Kildare. http://www.kildare.ie/CountyCouncil/Planning/DevelopmentPlans/KildareCountyDevelopmentPlan2017-2023/
